dr-karen-godwin-canullaYes, there are great, down to earth doctors. And Dr. Karen is about as down to earth as you’ll find anywhere in the Valley of the Sun. Years ago, she made Arizona her home, coming from Arkansas with a heart filled with Southern hospitality.

Today, Dr. Karen serves with that compassionate heart, a genuine hope to help others, plus more than 25 years of medical training and knowledge to help women and men feel great one patient at a time in her Feel Great Arizona clinic in Scottsdale.

Karen Godwin Canulla, M.D. is a Board Certified physician in Psychiatry and Neurology. In 1991, she began her medical career in psychiatry at the Maricopa Medical Center, working with seriously mentally ill patients. Her work expanded into extensive experience in forensic psychiatry, serving as an expert witness in multiple court cases each week.

Since 2001, for the most part she has served patients through private practice, while also raising a family. Speaking of family, Karen was the first in hers to graduate from college. It began with a B.A. in Chemistry from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. She followed that with an M.D. degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Science.

Karen Godwin Canulla, M.D. has never stopped her interest in learning. She regularly travels for seminars and training to be able to better serve patients. Currently, she is an active fellow near certification in the American Academy of Anti-Aging (A4M). She also approaching a similar status with The Academy of Preventive and Innovative Medicine, led by Neal Rouzier, M.D.

Since 2006, her continuing education has remained focused in the area of Quality of Life Medicine. This involves the care of the whole patient both physically and emotionally. She explains it this way. “It’s like a puzzle. I find what works, and I don’t quit until I do,” says Dr. Karen. “Treating the emotional as well as the physical needs of patients works. This always made sense to me from my biology and chemistry background. We see it in the science and the numbers. Science and numbers don’t lie.

I see many patients who have really been struggling physically and emotionally with their bodies and their lives breaking down. Their brains keep telling they should be able to do all those things like they once could. But they can’t. So these hormonal imbalances and deficiencies become absolutely overwhelming. People feel those choices are taken away from them, and they fear they are not and cannot ever be the man or woman they once were and want to be again.

Oh, but we quickly show them they can.

The miracle of life was what first attracted me to medicine. Now, when I get men and women patients feeling good, I feel like I am in some way re-creating that. I am honored to serve my patients and work with them to get them stable. I hand them back a new life with the old quality of life they want. They feel happier. I feel blessed and gratified to have played a role in helping.”

Thus is the circle of life for women and men who seek Quality of Life Medicine solutions at the Feel Great Arizona clinic. To get back to feeling the real you, call Dr. Karen now at (480) 941-1952.
